Pityriasis Rosea most commonly affects young adults. You’ll first notice a large, pinky, scaly patch, known as the herald patch, which spreads over the course of a few days. Even though this skin rash isn’t contagious, it can affect multiple people in one household. The condition usually lasts anywhere from 4 – 8 weeks, but some cases take 12 weeks to clear.

What’s Our Solution?

We recommend gently bathing the affected area and applying mild lubricants, creams, and mild hydrocortisone creams to soothe inflammation. To lessen the itching, you can also use oral antihistamines. You might see resolution after controlled sun exposure or moderate ultraviolet light treatment, but be careful you don’t burn.
